Our mission is to support their journey into adulthood by offering expert guidance, practical resources, and collaborative support to students, educators, families, and adult service agencies.

Board of VR/Statewide Independent Living Council

BHSSC staff provide administrative support to the Board of Vocational Rehabilitation (BVR) and the Statewide Independent Living Council (SILC), two federally mandated bodies that serve as the voice of individuals with disabilities. They advocate for vocational rehabilitation and independent living services, working together to empower individuals with disabilities to live independently, productively, and fully integrated into society.

Each board consists of at least 15 members; each must have a majority of persons with disabilities; in addition to representatives from various organizations and stakeholders. ESCs also partner with businesses through outreach efforts to promote inclusive hiring and connect employers with qualified, job-ready candidates.
