These programs include their Social Security Disability, Low-Income Housing, Medicare & Medicaid coverage, SNAP benefits and Energy Assistance. The decision to return to work is complicated but support from SDBSN, can help many beneficiaries make decisions that improve not only their financial independence, but also their well-being overall.

The TSLP is a statewide initiative dedicated to strengthening transition services and successful post-school outcomes for high school students with disabilities. Our mission is to support their journey into adulthood by offering expert guidance, practical resources, and collaborative support to students, educators, families, and adult service agencies.

BHSSC staff provide administrative support to the Board of Vocational Rehabilitation (BVR) and the Statewide Independent Living Council (SILC), two federally mandated bodies that serve as the voice of individuals with disabilities. They advocate for vocational rehabilitation and independent living services, working together to empower individuals with disabilities to live independently, productively, and fully integrated into society.
Each board consists of at least 15 members; each must have a majority of persons with disabilities; in addition to representatives from various organizations and stakeholders.
